Voyages-sncf.com launches its mobile site Voyages-sncf.mobi, and speeds up the first steps into M-commerce for the French

Since its creation seven years ago, more than100 million train tickets have been bought on Voyages-sncf.com. Shored up by this success, the company is now offering people in France the option of reserving tickets on their mobile phones in just a few minutes, wherever they are, at any time.
Its ambition is for Voyages-sncf.mobi to be the first site French people use to carry out their first transaction via a mobile phone.

1 in 4 French people say they would be happy to buy a train ticket on their mobile phones and nearly 1 in 3* would find it useful to be able to buy one at any time in this way. In response to their needs, Voyages-sncf.com is now offering French people the chance of carrying its services around with them, and tap into a high potential market: 52 million French people subscribe to mobile telephony, and 17 million of them use the mobile Internet*.

Its main goal is to anticipate a new way of using the mobile phone, and above all offer a service designed to complement the Web site, and which meets the needs of buyers in a mobile situation: frequent travellers, last-minute buyers and young people (aged 12-25).

All theVoyages-sncf.com services in your pocket

After two years of development and tests, Voyages-sncf.com, always with the comfort of its customers in mind, has designed a tool enabling them to book a trip in a way that is handy, simple, secure and costs nothing.

Websurfers can now use their mobiles to:
- buy train tickets leaving from more than 112 cities in France and Europe on all the TGV, Eurostar, Thalys, Lyria, TER and Corail networks.
- view the times of the next trains on the entire rail network in France and neighbouring Europe, whatever the city of departure or destination.
- benefit from special offers and make immediate use of Voyages-sncf.mobi offers.
- access their Customer Space, thus saving time when making a reservation, and also access the Favourite Journeys they have already registered.
- exchange their tickets, as from the second half of 2008.

All mobile surfers can log onto the site just by entering the address Voyages-sncf.mobi.

For the ergonomics, design and technical production of its service, Voyages-sncf.com called on the expertise of VSC Technologies – a subsidiary of SNCF which develops the Voyages-sncf.com site and provides technological rail distribution services – in partnership with Backelite, a company specialising in mobile service integration and development.

To be sure that it provides its customers with a site truly in line with their needs, Voyages-sncf.com also set up a beta test in October, together with a blog to collect comments and suggestions.
The results are highly encouraging. Even before the official launch of the site, over 6,000 single visitors, 600 options placed and 20 bank card payments have been listed every day..
