> Because sustainable development concerns everyone, and because we all have a duty to future generations, in 1999 the SNCF Group began defining a policy for developing its commitment in terms of environmental protection, economics and social equality. > EIn 1999, the signature of the public company sustainable development charter marked the start of the SNCF’s commitment, through the set-up of a sustainable development policy. See the SNCF site > In 2002, 2003 and 2008, the SNCF, Geodis, Keolis and SNCF Participations joined the United Nations Global Compact, which invites companies to adopt the universal principles of human rights, working standards and environmental protection, in the spirit of responsible sustainable development. >On 1 March 2007, 26 companies in the SNCF Group signed the Diversity Charter. This voluntarist approach is part of the "Equal opportunities and promotion of diversity" programme set up in 2006 by the SNCF in the areas of recruitment and training.

In its sustainable development policy, Geodis has set itself two objectives: to reduce its consumption of natural resources (water and diesel oil), and control pollutant emissions (CO2 and toxic gases), resulting in savings of 600,000 litres of fuel in rail/road transport on the line between Paris and Avignon (representing 170,000 km per month).

By the very nature of its business, Keolis, the leading private company in French public transport, is committed to sustainable mobility. Keolis aims at addressing three issues: economic efficiency for the areas it serves; social equality, by making access to transport and city life available to everyone, and environmental protection, by offering a credible alternative to individual transport and using renewable energies.
